Miss Elz Website design brief

Miss Elz; Secondary school cookery teacher by day, and a food blogger, Youtuber and just an all-rounder lover of friends and food. Her passion is making recipes fun and flexible, and providing easy-to-follow recipes for stress-free cooking!

Ellie is an exuberant and fun You-Tuber who has so many fantastic recipes to share, but also she has a plethora of interesting information about Lea and Perrins Worcestershire Sauce which she was itching to publicise. She wanted fun and friendly website that made people feel welcomed and cheered, but also she wanted to do justice to her family and her late-Grandad who had written a history on Worcestershire Sauce.

How I developed the website

First stop was Ellie’s logo. I wanted to include her favourite colours of yellow and orange (the orange also being relevant to Worcestershire Sauce). The logo incorporated a serving platter alongside a playful use of text; combining a serving spoon and a chopping knife into the typography.

The site needed to be different to the average recipe site and reflect the playfulness and fun. I used scrolling effects on the plates and cups, which as you move down the screen spin and grow and move. Images ‘pop’ into position, and text and CTA buttons bounce into place. This fun all reflects the style in which Ellie presents her videos.

Social media integration is key on the website, and clients can link back and forth to You tube, and the can like and share videos and make comments via Facebook about different videos and recipes.

“Firstly I want to say a massive thank you to Becky from Bear Left Studio. She created my website and logo that reflected exactly what I wanted to achieve and added creative touches which make the website stand out from the many websites already out there. I am more than delighted with the results.

The whole process was very easy, stress free and went at a pace that suited me which was brilliant. The attention to detail and clear communication throughout made the experience a very positive and fun one.

Becky is very passionate about what she does, which is reflected with the time, effort and care she went into creating my website. If you are looking for someone to create or update your website, I would highly recommend Becky from Bear Left Studio!”
